National Volunteer Week 2025

National Volunteer Week 2025

19-25 May 2025

National Volunteer Week is Australia’s largest annual celebration of volunteers.

Established in 1989, National Volunteer Week (NVW) is the premier celebration of volunteers in Australia.

This special event is an opportunity to highlight the important role of volunteers in our community and invites people not currently volunteering to give it a go.

National Volunteer Week 2025 theme

National Volunteer Week 2025 celebrates the power of volunteering to bring people together with the theme Connecting Communities.

Volunteering creates lasting relationships that enrich lives and strengthen communities.

Volunteering is vital to the nation’s wellbeing. Australia’s communities and lifestyle are underpinned by the contributions of volunteers.

Thanks to our volunteers

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our volunteers for their hard work, dedication and the caring way in which they generously provide their time to help vulnerable people in our community.

Our volunteers are the life-blood of our organisation; we simply couldn’t function without them.

Thank you!

Volunteer celebration

We’re holding a celebration for our volunteers to say thank you for their ongoing support.

All volunteers are invited to attend the event on Friday 23 May from 4.30pm to 6.00pm at the Early Morning Centre.

Interested in volunteering?

If you’re interested in volunteering with the EMC, we would love to hear from you!

We have two main volunteer opportunities:

  • preparing and serving breakfast weekdays from 7am to 9am, and
  • helping out in the Community Hub for a few hours between 9am and 2pm weekdays or 9am and 1pm weekends.

Volunteers usually do a shift once a week or once a fortnight.

Help build the conversation

Volunteering Australia are asking us all to acknowledge and celebrate the spirit of connection and the incredible impact volunteers have in building thriving and inclusive communities.

Help build a national conversation. Add #NVW2025 to your posts and be part of a movement connecting communities through volunteering.
