The Early Morning Centre (EMC) is a safe, respectful space with friendly people. We provide food, essential services, support and community activities, focusing on individual needs.

Monday to Friday Breakfast from 7.30am to 8.30am
Monday to Friday Community Hub from 9.00am to 2.00pm
Saturday & Sunday Community Hub from 9.00am to 1.00pm

We are located in the Canberra City Uniting Church building at 69 Northbourne Avenue, Canberra City.

Notes

There are no eligibility conditions to attend the EMC, everyone is welcome to use this service.

Please note that we serve breakfast only between 7.30am and 8.30am weekdays. Facilities and other services are available during the Community Hub, from 9.00am to 2.00pm weekdays and 9.00am to 1.00pm weekends.

Pets in the Park clinics
All pets are welcome; please have dogs on a lead and cats in a carrier if possible. You’ll need a written referral which we can provide to eligible guests. Please note your referral letter is valid for 6 months. Click here for clinic dates.

Service expectations

Service expectations relate to the Early Morning Centre (EMC) and surrounding area.

Acceptable conduct for all guests, staff and volunteers is behaviour based on respect, for oneself, other people present, and the physical environs of the EMC.

Physical assault, swearing, yelling, verbal abuse, sexual harassment or damage to person or property are not acceptable behaviours in the EMC. Staff and volunteers are not expected to tolerate slurs of a racial or sexual nature and have a right to feel safe in their working environment.

Other behaviours that are not acceptable are illegal activities such as drug use and/or exchange. Alcohol and smoking are not permitted in the EMC, either inside the premises or in the outside area that forms part of the EMC and the Canberra City Uniting Church.
