Governor-General visit on International Volunteer Day

We are very excited to announce that the Governor-General will be visiting the Early Morning Centre in recognition of International Volunteer Day, on Thursday, 5 December 2019.

Their Excellencies General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Hurley will assist our volunteers to serve breakfast, speak with guests and volunteers, and take a tour of the centre.

We would like to invite our volunteers to come along to this special event so we can thank you all and recognise your efforts in supporting the EMC and our guests.

About International Volunteer Day

International Volunteer Day (IVD), mandated by the UN General Assembly, is held each year on 5 December. It is viewed as a unique chance for volunteers and organisations to celebrate their efforts, to share their values, and to promote their work among their communities.

It is an opportunity to raise awareness of the important role that volunteers play in responding to challenges facing the world.

“The diverse and dynamic role of volunteerism in promoting the Sustainable Development Goals merits strong support from Governments and other stakeholders. On this International Day, I thank volunteers for their efforts to leave no one behind.” — António Guterres, UN Secretary-General.
